Severn Gorge is about 3 miles south of Telford.

It is a level and    sheltered site with all amenities and convenient for many attractions in the area such as Ironbridge Telford, Severn Valley Railway Bridgnorth, Cosford Aerospace Museum, Weston Park and many others.

Pitches are either hard standing or grass depending on personal  preference. The grass areas are also suitable for tents. One pitching area is open and overlooks a landscaped open area and the other is an avenue with grass on one side and hard standing on the other and is divided by a hedge. There are numerous water points and rubbish disposal bins around the site that has a comfortable well-kept air about it.

The toilet block is centrally heated and kept extremely clean at all times. There is a separate disabled toilet and shower.   Laundry and dishwashing facilities are also provided along with a clothes-drying area.  The children's play area is set away from pitching areas.

The small shop attached to reception provides basics and the town of Madely is a short walk away. Papers can be ordered from reception.

Two pubs within 300 yards serve food. There is a bus stop outside the site gates. Although opposite an industrial estate do not be put off as the longish drive takes you through a wood and there is no sign of it on the site.

The landscaped area to one side is part of the site and there is a   fishing lake at the foot

There is also a pitch and putt and picnic area. The brochure also offers mountain bike hire.

This site is open all year. I understand from chatting with the very helpful wardens that the site has recently been sold and the new owner is going to carry out an improvement program. Certainly the hard standings at the top of the site were obviously new. Apparently these pitches were unusable in very wet weather. The top of the site can also be booked for rallies.

I found this site whilst trying to find somewhere in the direct locality convenient for visiting friends. However in an area of the country, which seems to be short of sites or CL's - never mind good ones -   this is a welcome addition to my list of "will return to" sites.

Directions

Leave M54 at junction 4 and follow A464 and then A442 towards   Kidderminster. After approximately three miles follow local signs for Madely and Tweedale. Then follow the brown international caravan signs, which take you to the site
